Community Impact Days

West Lancashire Borough Council (WLBC) are pleased to announce upcoming dates and venues for this year's Impact Days.

Last year's Impact Days proved to be incredibly successful and a real hit with the community.

So, we're bringing them back for 2024! Never heard of them? No problem, keep reading to find out more....

What is an Impact Day?

Officers from all over the council will come together to carry out a survey with our council tenants. This is a great opportunity for our tenants to have their say and for us to gain an insight as to what we are doing well, but also identify areas where we could improve.

As well as information gathering, we will be providing a skip at each of the below venues and will be allowing anyone from the surrounding areas to dispose of unwanted items free of charge (domestic waste only – no tyres, oil, paint, asbestos, or fridge freezers and you must be able to put the items in the skip yourself as staff will not be able to assist with lifting items into the skip and we will not provide additional skips once the original skip is filled).

We are a council that is committed to creating a clean environment for all our residents and we are thrilled to provide an opportunity for the community to dispose of items they no longer want or need in a safe way.

Join us for the final Impact Day of the year...

Thursday 3rd October 2024

Whittle Drive Car Park, Ormskirk

10am – 2pm (unless skip is filled earlier)

Family Fun Impact Days

The Council are excited to offer three enhanced Impact Days for 2024 at Greenhill Hub, Evermoor Hub and Tanhouse Community Centre. In addition to council officers conducting surveys and the offer to dispose of unwanted items free of charge in the skip, we will also have information stalls with representatives from both internal and external services, arts and crafts workshops and outdoor activities for young people and children.

Look out for the FREE skip & electricals recycling at the events.

• Do you have unwanted or broken electricals lying around the house? Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled! Bring them along to our skip day to recycle your old electricals.
• Examples: Headphones, games consoles, electric toothbrushes, hairdryers, toasters, old mobile phones.
• We discard 103,000 tonnes of electricals every year, instead of reusing or recycling them. That creates e-waste – and that poses a major threat to the environment and to human health.

We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events. If you require any further information, please email TenantVoice@westlancs.gov.uk
