Stage 5 - Adoption

The council adopted the West Lancashire Local Plan 2012-2027 on 16 October 2013. It is now the development plan for the borough, and supersedes the West Lancashire Replacement Local Plan 2001-2016.

Statement of Adoption
Below you can find the Local Plan and a series of accompanying documents. These include an Adoption Statement, which provides details of adoption, the right to challenge and document availability. A Sustainability Appraisal Report is also available. A copy of our Adoption Statement has also been sent to the Secretary of State.

Following receipt of the Local Plan Inspector’s report in September 2013 and subsequent adoption by the Council in October 2013 of the West Lancashire Local Plan 2012-2027 Development Plan Document, the time limit for bringing a challenge to the Local Plan has expired.

One challenge was brought, in time, by Peel Land and Property (Ports) Limited. However, the challenge was subsequently withdrawn on 17 March 2014.

As such, the West Lancashire Local Plan 2012-2027 Development Plan Document remains the key part of the Adopted Development Plan for the Borough, against which development proposals will be assessed.

Notification and Publicity
A press notice was published in the Champion newspaper on 23 October 2013. In addition we have written to statutory consultees, Parish Councils, those people who have made a representation at the Publication or Main Modifications stages, and all those on our consultation database, to notify of the adoption of the Local Plan

Copies of the documents can also be bought for a charge. The Local Plan costs £20 for residents (£35 for non-residents and businesses).  Please contact 01695 577177 to purchase a copy.
