Performance management

The council produces a number of strategies and plans directed at achieving our Council Vision and Priorities. These contain numerous tasks and targets aligned to our priorities which, when completed successfully, are the building blocks of our success.

Performance management is not just collecting facts and figures. It's about making sure that what is supposed to be done gets done. The council uses the framework of strategies and plans to effectively and efficiently manage the council’s performance in an open and transparent way. We assess and monitor our performance and if we have not achieved something we have set out to do then we tackle it. Performance management is taking action in response to actual performance to help make outcomes better than they would otherwise be.

Council priorities 2023-2028 were agreed in October 2023 and a monitoring and reporting framework to evidence progress on our Council Priorities approved in March 2024.

How do we report corporate performance?

Corporate Performance evidencing progress on our Council Priorities is subject to regular review through the Corporate Management Team, and quarterly monitoring reports through Policy and Resources Committee. We also publish an annual review.
