WorkWell service launches across West Lancashire, supporting people with health conditions entering employment or stay in work
West Lancashire Borough Council has launched a local support service in the borough designed to help disabled people and people with health conditions to start, stay or succeed in work has been rolled out across Lancashire.
WorkWell is a programme designed to support people with musculoskeletal problems or low-level mental health issues that make it difficult to work or find a job.
Created as part of the Government’s plan to help people with health conditions return to work, the service provides tailored support and assessments for individuals aged 18 and above, as well as for those aged 16 and above who are in full-time apprenticeships at risk of falling out of work or for those who have had to stop working because of a health condition.
Councillor Vickie Cummins, lead member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “WorkWell is an innovative programme designed to support individuals facing barriers such as long-term health conditions, mental health and physical challenges in their journey to return to work or sustain employment.
“People can benefit from up to 12 weeks of personalised, one-on-one guidance from a dedicated work and health coach. The programme focuses on setting clear, achievable goals while addressing their physical, psychological, and social wellbeing needs.”
Lancashire and South Cumbria was chosen last year as one of 15 regions in England to pilot the WorkWell service.
Councillor Cummins, added: “Now that WorkWell is available in West Lancashire, we really want people who are eligible to make the most of this support.
"We’re also working closely with local employers to break down barriers for people with physical or mental health conditions.
“This service will make a real difference for both individuals and businesses in our community."
