West Lancashire Borough Council is inviting residents, tenants, businesses and organisations to share their views on its draft Housing Strategy for 2024-2029. The Strategy sets out the Council's priorities and actions to meet the current and future housing needs and challenges in the Borough.
It is vital that our residents have access to safe, secure and suitable homes that meet their needs and aspirations.
Housing plays a vital role in both people's lives and our local economy. The right home environment is critical to our health and wellbeing; good housing helps people stay healthy and provides a base from which to sustain a job, contribute to the community, and achieve a decent quality of life.
Our draft Housing Strategy highlights partnership working, our past and present challenges, the impact of legislation and our future aspirations for the next five years.
Councillor Nicola Pryce-Roberts, portfolio holder for Housing, said: "Housing is important to us all and this consultation represents a perfect opportunity for people from all walks of life, living or working in West Lancashire to share their opinion with us.
"Our intention is that the strategy will contribute to improving housing circumstances for residents by guiding the work of the council and its partners on housing issues, either directly, or by being considered as other plans and strategies are developed".
Please share your feedback with us before March 25, 2024. You can do this simply and quickly via our online consultation portal Your Voice West Lancashire.
Your feedback will help shape the final version of the strategy, which will be published later this year.
PLEASE NOTE: The draft Housing Strategy is independent of the Local Plan, which concentrates on the Borough's long-term development. The Local Plan's land-use policies adhere to the expectations of the National Planning Policy Framework.
