The NEST programme hatched in West Lancashire

West Lancashire Borough Council is proud to announce the launch of The NEST to boost wellbeing and employability within the Borough.

The NEST stands for Networking, Employability, Support and Training. Located at a bespoke hub in Skelmersdale, key services will be offered in person by the team to support local people and businesses in the community.

The NEST aims to empower residents by offering personalised 1-to-1 coaching, CV writing assistance, interview preparation, and access to various training platforms and courses. These services are designed to help individuals overcome barriers to employment and enhance their career prospects.

In addition to employability support, they are committed to fostering healthier and happier work environments across the Borough. The team offers a range of free workplace health & wellbeing training courses tailored to address the needs of our workforce, promoting mental and physical well-being in the workplace.

The team are hosting a launch event in their new premises at 61 Westgate in Skelmersdale on Wednesday 31 July from 1pm-2:30pm. The event will provide more details about the initiative, offer an opportunity to ask questions and celebrate the beginning of this exciting new chapter for the community.

Councillor Melissa Parlour, lead member for Economic Regeneration, said: “We are incredibly excited about the launch of the NEST. This initiative represents a significant investment in our community’s future. We believe it will create a sense of community and collaboration, empowering individuals to reach their fullest potential.”

“The NEST will play a crucial role in helping our residents achieve their career goals while also promoting a healthier work environment for all.

“By providing state-of-the-art resources and a supportive network, The NEST will inspire innovation and continuous learning. This initiative is designed to not only enhance professional development but also to cultivate personal growth and well-being among our residents.”

The initiative is fully funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to provide a significant boost to the community through a variety of support services and training programs.
