The Mayor of West Lancashire's Christmas and New Year Message
The Mayor of West Lancashire, Councillor Mrs. Marilyn Westley, has written a Christmas message to the people of the Borough:
"It is a true honour to represent the Borough as Mayor and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the people of our wonderful West Lancashire while undertaking my many civic duties.
"Although too numerous to mention them all, I would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' to some of the special people I have met.
"The Evermoor Hub and the Birchwood Centre are cornerstones of our community, supporting the most vulnerable in so many ways during these difficult times and I congratulate them on their vital and tireless work.
"I would also like to recognise Birch Green Amateur Boxing Club for their work in the community, Skelmersdale Veterans for inviting me to visit the National Memorial Arboretum with them and Applecast and Midstream Garden Centre for helping those with complex needs. Well done also to Dave Mutch who works so steadfastly with the Street and School Pastors in Ormskirk to make the town so welcoming.
"Special mention must go to the Rangers Team for giving me a tour of all the wonderful green spaces they care for and for organising the marvellous Green Fayre at Beacon Country Park.
"Finally, I'd like to extend my gratitude to Jill Ryan and her team at the Council for putting together the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the King's Proclamation ceremony and Remembrance events as well as for the guidance they have so far given me as Mayor.
"I look forward to meeting many more of the Borough's remarkable people as I continue the journey through my Mayoral year. I wish everyone in West Lancashire a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year."
