Help shape plans for Burscough Racquet and Fitness Centre

• Council launches consultation into future plans for sports centre
• Residents' view sought on things like fitness classes, facilities and opening hours
• Councillor wants to see centre 'that thrives as a hub for people in the area'

The Council is inviting you to have your say about the future of Burscough Racquet and Fitness Centre during a three-week consultation.

Feedback from the consultation will help us understand what matters most to you about the facilities and activities that are currently offered at the centre and we will use the feedback to help us shape future improvements and investment plans.

West Lancashire Borough Council has an ambitious strategy to improve its leisure facilities across the Borough. Our plans involve the development of two new Wellbeing and Leisure Hubs in Skelmersdale and Ormskirk to replace the existing facilities at Nye Bevan Pool, Skelmersdale and Park Pool, Ormskirk, along with investment in Burscough Racquet and Fitness Centre to ensure the future sustainability of this busy and popular community facility.

Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure and Human Resources is looking forward to hearing people's ideas: "This is a unique opportunity for you to shape how we develop plans for a fitness centre that thrives as a hub for people in the area to get fit and enhance their wellbeing.

 One of the Council's priorities is to build sustainable community facilities that promote health and wellbeing among our residents. The new Wellbeing and Leisure Hubs and improved facilities in Burscough are central to delivering on those plans."

We'd like to know what you value in the existing facilities, and what you would like to see. Would you benefit from more racquet sports or longer opening times? Or maybe having a café to get a bite to eat is important to you when choosing somewhere to spend your leisure time?

Maybe you don’t use the facility at present, but particular improvements would mean you would use it in the future? Whatever your priorities are, we want to hear from you so you can help shape our plans to deliver a facility that works for the community.
