Council to consider further savings proposals given ongoing financial pressure

Following West Lancashire Borough Council's budget setting meeting on 26th February 2025, a further budget meeting is required to identify additional savings to bridge the gap as a result of the decision to keep Nye Bevan and Park Pool open.

This decision increased the budget gap by a further £1.2m a year from 2026/7.

Officers will present Elected Members with a wide-ranging set of savings proposals, some of which will have a direct impact on other services across the Borough.

Elected Members will be asked to approve these measures, or present legitimate alternative options as it is essential the Council lives within its financial means.
