What is an Community Engagement Roadshow?
Officers from all over the council will come together to carry out surveys with our council tenants. This is a great opportunity for our tenants to have their say and for us to gain an insight as to what we are doing well, but also identify areas where we could improve.
As well as information gathering, we will be providing a skip at each of the venues and will be allowing anyone from the surrounding areas to dispose of unwanted items free of charge (domestic waste only – no tyres, oil, paint, asbestos, or fridge freezers and you must be able to put the items in the skip yourself as staff will not be able to assist with lifting items into the skip and we will not provide additional skips once the original skip is filled).
We are a council that is committed to creating a clean environment for all our residents and we are thrilled to provide an opportunity for the community to dispose of items they no longer want or need in a safe way.
Look out for the FREE skip & electricals recycling at these events where you can:
• Recycle your old electricals, anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled! Bring them along to our skip day.
• Speak to our officers about any issues you may have or give us feedback on waste collections or facilities.
Impact days 2024
In 2024 we held six impact days. Five of these included a door to door survey and we asked our Tenants to give us feedback on our services. See below how this has helped us understand the issues in your communities and how we are working to improve things.
Attendance
Birch Green - 75 People attended the Birch Green Day.
Greenhill Hub - 25 surveys completed with Tenants at the Greenhill Hub.
Evermore Hub - We had 27 surveys completed at the Evermore hub.
Tanhouse Community Centre - Officers collected 28 responses from our Tenants at Tanhouse Community Centre.
Whittle Drive - 26 responses from Tenant surveys on Whittle drive.
Findings
We have looked at the responses from the surveys gathered and have found that the key things we will look at across all areas are:
- Anti-Social behaviour
- Cleanliness and maintenance of flat blocks and communal areas
So that we can improve in these areas, we are growing our Block Champions programme so that we can recruit and train more Tenant Volunteers to gather knowledge and insight in individual communities and flat blocks, and report where necessary. We are also holding an ASB workshop, and local focus groups at community venues where we are asking our Tenants to look at neighbourhood policies and communications, and to recommend changes to them, so that we can improve our services.
If you are interested in becoming a block champion, or would like to attend one of our ASB focus groups, please get in touch using the contact details below.
Tenant feedback and influence is really important to us at WLBC. We really do hope to see you at one of our upcoming events and will be announcing our Community Impact dates for next year very soon so please check back here for these updates. If you require any further information, would like to get involved, or would like to suggest your area for one of our next impact days please email TenantVoice@westlancs.gov.uk
