Annual air quality reports
Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 highlights the requirement for local authorities to carry out annual reviews and assessments of air quality within their district.
Until 2016, air quality assessments were carried out on a three yearly cycle by our Environmental Protection team. This has now changed within England and a new streamlined approach has been adopted with the introduction of an air quality Annual Status Report (ASR). Whilst continuing to appraise air quality it is hoped that this new approach will put more emphasis on the pollutants shown to be more challenging.
