Animal Welfare Information

The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 require anyone hiring out horses in the course of a business for riding or providing instruction in riding requires a licence.

The Council inspects all licensed premises, which will include a veterinary surgeon or practitioner. If the inspection is satisfactory the licence will be granted for 1, 2 or 3 years and provided with a star rating; however, an annual veterinary inspection is still required regardless of the duration of the licence.
